Meet Your Neighbors Mawi Valley – Part 3: The Story of Wanyi and Jamie

In the previous parts of our Meet Your Neighbors series, we introduced the people behind Mawi Valley and shared a glimpse into the lives and values shaping the community. This time, we meet Wanyi and Jamie, who became buyers at Mawi Valley and are planning to make the valley part of their future life.

Currently based in Singapore, they are looking forward to trading the pace of the city for something slower, greener, and more connected to nature. Together with their toy poodle, Chewie, they are creating a new chapter centered around simplicity, community, creativity, and the freedom to explore the things they truly enjoy.

Hi Wanyi and Jamie, before we talk about Mawi Valley, tell us a little about yourselves and your lifestyle today.

We both live in Singapore, it’s Asia’s concrete jungle. While things are great and convenient, life is always hectic. Jamie is a creator and Wanyi recently just left her corporate job to take a break (and maybe pursue something else like Baking / healing work). We have a toy poodle called Chewie. We are an LGBTQ+ couple and just got married in 2026.

What first attracted you to Lombok?

We actually really love Bali vibes and wanted to move there. But the traffic is a huge turn off, and it’s getting really crowded plus dogs are not allowed into Bali. Wanyi suggested we check out Lombok in 2025, and Jamie fell in love with the vibes once we reached and visited! People are super friendly too. We love that it feels like the early days of Bali – really simple and lots of Nature still around!

What made Lombok feel like somewhere you wanted to invest in personally?

The fact that development is on-going, the place is quite raw and underdeveloped, and there will be more investments coming in – again having smooth traffic is a big thing for us! We’re excited to be part of a smaller developing place where we can find community!

What was it about Mawi Valley that stood out to you compared to other opportunities you explored?

We liked that it wasn’t too near Kuta. But what drew us in was the idea of it being a private sustainable Valley where we could be near nature (not so much near the hustle and bustle). We love the idea of the green zone, the farm to table cafe. It’s so near Mawi beach and selong belanak as well, which we know we’ll enjoy!

What kind of lifestyle do you imagine creating for yourselves at Mawi Valley?

After the hectic life in Singapore, we really want to just chill out and live a simpler life in Mawi  Valley with our dog chewie. We want to enjoy nature, go at a slower pace and explore the things we love. We’re excited to do some gardening, pick up padel / surfing.. And just really live life. Probably run a cafe, and some energy healing related work!

When you think about the future here, what excites you most?

Living a slower life, being able to spend time in nature with loved ones and pursuing our passions 🙂

Mawi Valley is becoming a community shaped not only by architecture and landscape, but by the different people choosing to make the valley part of their lives.

Wanyi and Jamie’s story reflects something we hear increasingly often: the desire to move away from constantly rushing and towards a lifestyle with more space, nature, connection, and freedom.

As new neighbors gradually join the valley, each brings their own story, interests, and ideas – and that is exactly what will make the community unique.
